Default A Couple of Comebacks at Santa Anita

Really glad to see this story and see the lineup for the Malibu on December 26. Quote from the story...

Quote:
Grade 1 winner Great Hunter will make his first start since this year’s Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) against a full field in the $250,000 Malibu Stakes (G1) on Wednesday at Santa Anita Park.
The entire lineup has great potential, from GH, Cobalt Blue, EZ Warrior, Horse Greely, etc. Sort of names from the past, even though they are all 3YO's, but many of them have been somewhat forgotten due to injury.

I was even more excited to see this story on DRF. Quote from the story...

Quote:
Brother Derek, the 2006 Santa Anita Derby winner, galloped strongly as he readies for a return to action following ankle surgery this spring. The time off appears to have helped Brother Derek, who has filled out from the wiry body he had as a 3-year-old.
I was always a Brother Derek fan, even if he never quite lived up to the hype. Hendricks is already talking about the Breeder's Cup for him, which is a stretch, but with all of the retirements of the 3YO's this year, I think he could be a contender in the handicap division if he can return to his old form. It will be interesting and great to see him come back this year...

Although I hope he can prove me wrong, Brother Derek is a sucker bet.

Cobalt Blue won the BC dirt mile. He's never been far away from the scene.

Was he disguised as Corinthian?

I agree he has been racing, but he fell off a bit from the main scene earlier this year, and his win on BC weekend was great. Glad to see him back in G1 company again, regardless of how people feel about G1 races for 3YO this late in the year. I love this race and look forward to seeing alot of old familiar names back in action against each other...
