Default Horse of the Year

Rachel's race today was awesome and I am a big fan. However, even with all she has accomplished, isn't a little early to be declaring that she has wrapped up horse of the year honors? Andy beyer said it this morning. The guys on TVG have been saying it as well.

If Zenyatta comes east for the Beldame and beats Rachel and then goes on to win the Breeder's Cup Classic, wouldn't she have to be horse of the year? Not likely to happen (I know) but as great as today is for racing, it cannot possibly have definatively settled the horse of the year question.

Default With those fractions, I would have bet

$1000 at the turn that she would get caught...

really in a class of her own.

Zenyatta would have to beat Rachel in the Bedlame and Sea the Stars in the BCC for HOY. My guess is Sheriffs will duck both.

I agree I think they shut her down. Unless the voters decide to punish the connections for not going to the BC, she gets horse of the year.

If what she's done this year isn't a Horse of the Year campaign, I'm not sure what is. Sorry folks, but she sealed the deal today.

You are also going to have people who want to punish the whole concept of plastic tracks and the idiocy of the BC for embracing it without any thought.

It's over. It is Horse of the Year, not Horse Of The First Weekend In November. In every sense she has been the horse of the year. Unless the poobahs of racing are suicidal idiots who want to crap on the fans (hmmmm...let's not rule that out), it would be nuts to consider any other horse.

I sincerely doubt she runs again this year. You probably next see her prepping for the Donn. She just won a race she absolutely had no business winning, going all out. Possibly putting aside some top horses on the SoCal plasterboard tracks of yore, who goes out 22 and 4 in a two turn 9f race and still comes home in 12 and 4?

Not too many.

If Moss was smart he'd take the Beldame challenge. But if he was REALLY smart, he wouldn't, because IP is the most likely winner. And at this point the most camp Zenyatta can hope for is holding on the Older F&M title, which is no longer a lock for them. They just need to stick to their boring-ass plan and hope that IP doesn't like the chewed up Tupperware.

Great point. I saw it and totally agree.

Also, he had to use the whip today, which isn't normal for him on her.

In this video of RA.....8 minutes into it...in the Winners circle, and walking along the rail into the barn, RA did NOT appear to be any where close to YOUR description. Looked A-OK .

RA already has won Horsey of the Year.

Just to let the aliens here know.

Let's not even bring up Zucchini or Pee on Cars.

If there was a spot? Is there a lack of 1 1/8th stake races in the fall?

He said something like that on the MSG plus show. Donovan asked him, he responded with " it depends on how she coms out of this and if there was a spot worth running her" Im guessing that means, if Zenyatta comes and joins Icon Project in the Beldame.
