Funny how Nad Al Sheba is one of the finest tracks in the world but next year, we will be seeing the most extravagent sporting area ever created..

Even if she was 5/4 where you are ... it's not my thing betting horses at that short of a price ... but I'd still call that price an overlay. She's much better than the donkeys that have been going over there and winning that race every year.

It still is horse racing though and trouble happens. Desert Party - who was far less likely to win than Indian Blessing - had a perfect trip in his race ... but the problem for him was that Regal Ranson rated kindly on the lead over an obvious rail biased race track.

Trips play a huge role in the outcome of races ... which is why making win bets on short priced horses is the wrong thing to do long term. Even at 5/4 - it would have been tempting for me to pass on her in that spot. Diabolical is long in the tooth - Black Seventeen reportedly had to be walked off the track - and while Big City Man was a fairly useful American juvenile in good form over there .. his dirt form isn't competitive with IB's dirt form.

They were giving out about 600k to jocks in one race, and it went to Gryder, Jorge Leme, and some guy named Faydherbe? Somebody has to accuse Obama of having some part in this.

I like Big City Man, he might not be flashy or anything but he pulls out all the stops, and is as honest as they come. He needed to improve on what he'd shown this year but the way he has been going that certainly wasn't out of the question, and so it proved.

I must admit, I thought Desert Party would win, but there was no way I was getting involved at those prices.

It was all about Eastern Anthem for me, a horse I have followed along the way. A horse I thought would win the Epsom Derby at one point in time. Finally, with conditions almost perfect for him, he does me proud.

I really did not think Well Armed would win today especdially watching his last performance in which he could not have gotten an easier lead in very slow times only to be run down by Magnum.

Well Armed should not touch a synthetic track again until Breeders Cup Day!!! This horse just won a $6 million race at a mile and a quarter on the dirt.

Looked horrible January 10th, too(giving it up to the 25k claimer "INFORMED.")
Am I right? Is this the individual that won a 6 mil race today? If this isn't the best case for scraping that Pro Ride up (and tossing it into the fkn ocean,) then I don't know what is. Cushion Track is gold compared to this s-h-i-t. I'm a backer of synthetics, but not this particular one.

This is the worst speed duel in the last 10 years. Seriously, they are worth maybe $20 ($30 if ya got an absolute hard-on for blue n' faded.) They can't win it today. One of them is gunna wish he could be put to sleep until the pain subsides. I heard they aren't even known for very good sound quality.

He has done enough.
Keep him off the synth.

Not only did the horse win on the dirt in a 6M race,
he crushed the field.

Late to the party but good for Well Armed and Gryder... wasn't expecting that.

Goodbye, Nad al Sheba... it's been fun.

I was happy- I like Well Armed and it's nice to have a horse you can follow for more than a year or so. Especially one who's won on dirt, turf and synthetics. Big thanks to the person who posted the race on Youtube- the OTB channel in NYC promptly at 11AM here turned from Dubai to recaps of yesterday's races at Aqueduct (sigh).

Story from Bloodhorse last year about Well Armed here:

http://cs.bloodhorse.com/blogs/dubai...er-s-zeal.aspx

(sorry to post the full link addy- my weblink button isn't working for some reason)

I had wondered why he vanished after the UAE Derby- didn't know he was injured so badly for so long.

Talk about a real bias today. If I am not mistaken did not all horses who won on the dirt today wired the field?

All older horse grade 1's should be canceled until further notice

Yes, but his dirt form is far superior to his synthetic form when you consider his starts since October. And are there any real good older horses running out East on the dirt that he can't beat?
