I have not seen the annoucment yet on the type of surface that they will use. I will be okay with Poly or Cushion. Not sure about the tapeta stuff.
The climate during the Arlington meet will not pose any problem for whatever surface they choose.

The winter environment at Turfway is very harsh, on any surface.
I am not surprised that they are struggling with the track in these conditions and I don't care if it indeed was sold as no problem, a piece of cake.
They still made the right decision in my opinion, they have to just keep working on it.

For the average handicapper however, it's much more difficult. I have several associates who make money consistently everywhere but on the poly -- they won't go near it anymore.
I do think that most are not putting in the time to make the adjustments for these surfaces. Most of the comments I have heard from people it seems that they just throw up their hands like its a completely unpredictable crapshoot. I haven't found that to be the case for the most part.
I had a great run at Hollywood and many nice days at Turfway. I didn't find I had to work like hell at it either, it just seems like the form holds up in the way in which I am inclined to view races.
