oh man!! i would LOOOOOVE to see round table do it all again. most records ever set by a horse was by him. tied or set 17. unbelievable, sound as a bell, dual-surface multiple champion. and then became a pretty good sire as well.

and i'd like to see swaps back with four good feet. there would be no stopping that guy if he had those.

Danzig,
Good that you like them.
I must admit I'm a bit prejudiced.
Darbay has Round Table and Alydar in her pedigree, and Bourbon Streettune has Swaps in hers. I should have also mentioned another, My Babu.

to me, round table deserves mention in the same breath as secretariat, man o war and those other great horses. he was awesome, it's amazing the career he had. i think since many horses these days are labelled as great, we'll have to start referring to the true greats as legends.

I would bring back Charismatic for a run in the BC Classic. He won the first race that I ever watched, and he's my favorite horse that I've ever seen as well. I just wish that I could see him run one last time....

Agree, Danzig.
Since you mentioned Round Table, Darbay's great grand-dad, and Secretariat, Gold miner's Gold grand dad, those two came together in one of mine named Makeitright. He's still in training but I hope he hits the track soon.
On a side note, a horse you might really like named Danzig was the sire of Dayjur. I mated Darbay to that line for her past two foals. Danzig was by Northern Dancer. Dayjur's dam, Gold beauty is by Mr Prospector.
The babies are nice.

i bet they are nice! a match made in heaven when you put northern dancer with mr prospector.

danzig one of the few sires who has a comp index LOWER than their aei. not even storm cat can boast that fact. his AEI is 4.13 lifetime-highest of all sires, while ap indy is 3.23 and storm cat a 3.52. everyone else in 1's and 2's.

just found this...less than one third, 32% of sires, have a lower comp index than average earnings index...

I would bring back Polar Expedition -- not because he'd have a shot at winning anything, but because he's the only horse from my time growing up that I wish I could see run again. He was my first favorite horse but I don't think that I ever really appreciated him because I was maybe like 10

I thought this thread was about the last twenty years. If it is about ALL eras, I would be thrilled to see Slew demolish any BC Classic field that has run since 1984.

Personally, I hate to see bettors lose. Even very stupid bettors. So I remind them of hype all the time.

Yeah, I know, I should just take their money. Maybe the money doesn't mean that much to me.

Danzig,
You got me intrigued by Danzig so I paid a visit to Claiborne's site and went to "history". He certainly was a great sire.
Chief's Crown was one of his sons, and also the granddad of one of my soon to be born foals.
