You are just not that bright. My Disgaree was at Scav, for his Cigar asessment.
And the fact that I completely agree with you on Badge is so disturbing to me that I am currently playing devlis advocate on my position and reasessing my view.

don't bother... you were both right the first time...Frankel did a masterful job of having that horse ready for the BC off that kind of lay-off.

But PP brings up a good one with Brass Hat...if he comes back again, that will really be something.

Yeah he did do a masterful job, and that 2nd in the Cigar has to be respected by anyone who wants to shout about Discreet Cat. You simply can't have it both ways. Either Cat is great and that runner up finish was a good race, or Cats not that good. I think Cat is good and so was the 2nd place finish.

My vote for "Best Comeback" would have to be Lawyer Ron! Having raced ten times last year and winning only two races (which happened to be on 12-9-05 & 12-31-05) and being offered up in a maiden tag race at turway speaks for itself. Yes he is not a "super horse" but he deserves much attention as my comeback horse of the year!!

The best 'come back' on the race track I saw this year was by Spooky Mulder! Check out his win at Aqueduct on 11/19/06

I hate to point out the obvious,
but the best comeback of 2006 was Go Deputy.

this is a 6YO who I dont remember doing anything in 2005.
yet he won a Grade 1 this year and ran 2nd in 3 others.

had a really impressive campaign and was just a notch below the best turf runners in this country(EC and Cacique) throughout the course of the year.

What did Thor's Echo "comeback" from? Mediocrity?

I see the point you are making though...

The horse hadn't won in over 16 months coming into the Breeders Cup, he was defeated soundly in 3 ungraded stakes this year, of his three lifetime wins coming into the BC---two came against Cal Bred company, the other was at Sunland Park....and with a pair of November Grade 1 wins...he's a lead-pipe cinch for champion sprinter honors.

What's funny, is that he only ran in the Ancient Title because an allowance race didn't fill. Had that allowance race filled, no matter how impressive the victory...it is VERY unlikely he would have even started in the BC Sprint.

Shows you how great our sprinters were this year....that Thor's Echo is a DESERVING eclipse award winner in that division.
