Well I sure won't be betting anything but grass there.
The results at Turfway on Saturday just confirm that poly is just about impossible to bet.
Ball Four is obviously a specialist on "poly" but I don't know anyone who would bet 50 cents on him against the field he just beat on dirt.
And the juvenile stakes were pretty comical as well as far as outcomes.
Reigning Court? You have to be kidding me.
And the older filly and mare stakes was comical as well.
I didn't bet a penny on that card, and my friends who did were home crying and broke after it was over. That card alone was a pretty good advertisement for why not to wager on Polytrack.
Keeneland won't get a dime from me on anything but grass races.

Bingo!

I was starting to think I was wrong about the Poly and then took one look at the entries and results from KY Cup Day and knew that I was right all along. Those results make no sense and Keeneland will be a blender this Meet...

Beautiful Bets!! LOL!!!
How about Flints horse in the juvy fillies who couldn't even go 5 furlongs before and then crushes them going two turns?
As far as Ghetto goes, I mean lets be honest, a horse like that breaking from the outside is hard to even fathom.
And check out the chart calls that day, 3 times, and this is RARE for a chartcaller to say, the chart said lost footing next to the horses running line.
Many horses simply can't grab it.
Wagering on races conducted over poly is a fools errand.
Ball Four? I mean, please. I can see how he could be played as a poly specialist in that race but no way would he even hit the board if the race was on dirt.
I'll let others play Keeneland, no thanks for me. I have zero interest in playing a surface in which Beautiful Bets can beat a field like that going two turns.

Ball Four would have never won had Premium Tap not almost fallen down. He would have probably run 2nd in light of that stupid ride by Leparoux on Perfect Drift. So I dont blame Ball Four winning on the polycrap, rather the dumb race riding by two guys who are supposed to be great jockeys (Leparoux and Desormeaux).

I find it just as easy to handicap PolyTrack than the dirt at Turfway. Now, I didn't have Ball Four and he won based on luck. Perfect Drift and Premium Tap had awful trips. But both seem to like the surface, they got horrible trips. And when it comes to Juve races, well you just never know. Remember Wilko????

And I'm not sure how well workouts over Polytrack will help with handicapping, either. How many times do we hear trainers say that their turf horses work great over the main track before entering them in big Grade One races on dirt? Then, faced with competition and pace, they forget to change leads or quit when being pelted with sand.

I'll watch Keeneland's Polytrack races from the sidelines. There is more than enough top notch turf action to keep me occupied.

Enjoy the Keeneland turf racing.
Flints filly and BB were about impossible to play, or even include.

PointG5,

Are you boycotting because of the poly? Turfway Park player?

Just wondering . . . fought with it last fall and through the winter at Turfway and finally ended up profitable. This revised poly is better . . . should be better to play than the old stuff.

Sorry guys I can't Complain About the Poly and Handicapping I had a $10 Exacta in the Juvenille and a $10 exacta in the Juvenille Fillies. I had Keyed both horse that ran 2nd in both races I had boxed them with several horses in each race.

I am not a huge bettor but I will step up and make a big play on occassion Especially if its horse I had something to do with. And I will continue that even if its at Keeneland.

I have no trouble learning to adapt to betting horses on the Polytrack.

.......and they don't let everyone and their brother wander into the paddock so they can parade around like they are someone important.

No lie I put it behind Aqueduct in the ranking of tracks I have been to.

Nostrodamus and his brother ARE important! (I'm just kidding w/ you Nostro)
I'd place Oaklawn above Keeneland.

I love Churchill so it has nothing to do with that. I'd put Keeneland ahead of Saratoga Harness!

I'm a New Yorker, and I've been to Keeneland about sixty times, and I love it. I understand the complaints people have, and it is tough on a crowded or rainy/cold day, but I just love it there. Sorry, but there are too few racetracks left that are alive...and Keeneland is one of them.

I also love Lexington. I love going to the horse farms, I love driving around the area, and I love going to the bars at night. I wish the food didn't suck and I wish the bars stayed open til 4am, but you can't have everything....unless you live in NYC.

That's why the short drive to Louisville is a must after a day at Keeneland. Decent food and nightlife.

The problem is drinking and driving. Plus, I enjoy the Lexington nightlife, at least for the few days I spend there.
