This year's Pacific Classic might have a full group of ten going to the post, but half of this field is just not competitive. Immediate tosses for my tickets include Imperative (take out the Charlestown line and what is left?), Ice Cream Truck (maiden claimer in May), You Know I Know (winless for a year), Toast of New York (not convinced about the race at Meydan), and Mystery Train (Argentine player).

That leaves Irish Surf, Game on Dude, Majestic Harbor, Clubhouse Ride, and and Shared Belief. Game on Dude has not been the same horse since last year's Classic. Shared Belief is the undefeated three year old going against older from the outside post which will mean that he will be moving in the opening quarter to secure position. Irish Surf steps up in company here after winning the Grade 3 Cougar.

So, for me, it comes down to Majestic Harbor (9-2) and Clubhouse Ride (8-1). At those prices in this field, I will likely be playing win and exactas rather than the trifecta with real dollars. But for the contest ...

$1 Trifectas : 7,9 / 2,5,7,9,11 / 2,5,7,9,11 = $24.00
