I gave that exact quote about two weeks back when just burned by a Parx shipper (although Rubindy has been at Saratoga). The problem with Parx is not only the funky surface (particularly the odd stretch that no one wants to be inside the five path), but the closing quarters in mile races are consistently 26+ seconds which are just not competitive with the NYRA tracks.
That said, would some please give Irad Ortiz an ice-bucket challenge today? You could have given me seven picks in that fourth race ... with only six horses ... and I still would not have come up with Penwith.
Another note to self for the remainder of this meeting : Brian Hernandez has simply worn out his welcome on my handicapping. The fact that he was pinned behind horses at the quarter-pole and angled out so poorly just shows how his mounts and his timing are completely off.
While we are on the subject, when was the last time that you saw an off-the-turf horse sporting a Mountaineer line in their last (Cap'n Raymond) win at Saratoga? Seriously, I cannot think of even one.
