It was Mike Smith riding...and the decision to rate was 100% on purpose. Caught up with Carlo Vaccarezza early in the day and said the plan was to let Joe's Blazing Aaron tire out King Kreesa and let them do the dirty work, sitting off of the speed like they did in the BC Turf. Uncanny how well it played out as they wanted it to...

Rating can't be considered a decision. They had absolutely no choice.

Important element of Smith's handling of Little Mike apparently came from him watching Ramon Dominguez' rein work with the horse (tight on right; loose on left) and mimicking it Saturday.

would have to think trying to copy anything Mr. Dominguez did on a race horse is a good thing.
