First, that was not a slow pace for that distance and final time. The best running took place from the half to the 6f.

Second, the winner was only a few lengths in front of Winter Memories early, 3 1/2, and gained another two lengths to the finish. She couldn't even catch the 3rd place finisher, a horse that was 7th to her 8th at the first call. In a race where the winner and 3rd place finisher were 6th and 7th early, I find it hard to use pace as an excuse for the horse that was 8th early.

How about she isn't all that and never was.. How good do you really have to be to be a quasi star on the turf in the US. The horses are basically ordinary. 3 year old fillies that can run a little are graded turf winners in the states, why anyone would believe that any of them are more then products of depleted breeding stock and fewer decent turf trainers is beyond me. Almost all of or turf star in the states would be marginal Group 3 listed animals in Europe. Why would anymore suspect that we could have turf runners that can be or should be reviewed as more then dirt wannbes?

You were right yesterday, and I've pretty much agreed with you--at least that she was a bet against recently and that her trips were much better than people realized.

But, it's kind of hard to pat yourself on the back for that opinion considering what she did in between the Miss Grillo and QEII.

She was beating very slow horses and being praised as some wonder horse. She even managed to toss in an off the board loss. Even her wins were nothing to write home about for me. Visually they looked great, but numerically, not so much.
