Default Getting back to Newt for President ...

Well, as everyone knows, Newt's campaign for President pretty much self-destructed this week, and is already being called "over" by many.

Probably true. Oh, well.

From his disastrous appearance on Meet The Press, to the glittering attack at a book signing, to having to call Rush on the air having to atone, to flip flopping to three positions in 48 hours, to disavowing his own taped words, to blaming David Gregory, Gingrich spent the week being ... Gingrich.

If you missed it, Gingrich's press secretary sent out the most amazing Press Release in the history of presidential candidate press releases. This is it. No, this is not from The Onion, this is the actual Newt Gingrich press release:

Quote:
The literati sent out their minions to do their bidding. Washington cannot tolerate threats from outsiders who might disrupt their comfortable world. The firefight started when the cowardly sensed weakness. They fired timidly at first, then the sheep not wanting to be dropped from the establishment's cocktail party invite list unloaded their entire clip, firing without taking aim their distortions and falsehoods. Now they are left exposed by their bylines and handles. But surely they had killed him off. This is the way it always worked. A lesser person could not have survived the first few minutes of the onslaught. But out of the billowing smoke and dust of tweets and trivia emerged Gingrich, once again ready to lead those who won't be intimated by the political elite and are ready to take on the challenges America faces.
Of course, the entire world has made fun of this press release in the past 24 hours, but none so well as Stephen Colbert, who had Sir John Lithgow do a dramatic reading of it (below link).

Goodbye, Newt! It's only been a week this time! We know you are supposed to do the Sunday Morning Talk Shows again this weekend. We'll see!
