CAIRO, May 2 (Reuters) - The head of Egypt's prestigious
seat of Sunni Muslim learning, al-Azhar, condemned U.S. troops'
disposal of the body of Osama bin Laden at sea on Monday as an
affront to religious and human values.

Muslims set great store by interment in permanent graves on
land and accept burial at sea only in cases where the body
cannot be preserved intact aboard ship until it reaches shore.

"The Grand Imam, Dr Ahmed El-Tayeb, the sheikh of Al-Azhar
condemned the reports, if true, of the throwing of the body of
Osama bin Laden into the sea," according to a statement released
by al-Azhar, which is respected around the world by many Sunni
Muslims as a seat of religious learning.

The procedure "contradicts all the religious values and
human norms", it said: "The Grand Imam asserted that it is
forbidden in Islam to deform the dead, regardless of their
beliefs. One honours the dead by burying them."

Except when you hang them from bridges and set them on fire or drag them behind cars? Is beheading them on film OK as long as they're buried?

Screw Ahmed El-Tayeb, we went to considerable effort to "bury" the worthless POS in accordance with Islamic beliefs...if he's dissatisfied, let him take his old ass out to sea and wrestle the corpse from the fish! We know there are going to be a-holes who will be critical no matter what we do...so they can get over themselves! Simply not our problem!

Wow that's a big suprise. I'm sure that our country will keep on giving these liar's more money to fight terrorism. Pakistan needs to get a few Tomahawk missiles shot at them. Especilly where all the protesters are denouncing our country and probably burning our flag. Maybe someone should burn the Pakistan flag.

The Pakistanis knew all right. The former Prime Minister of Pakistan publicly stated, on TV, that Bin Laden was already dead, back in 2007. David Frost was the interviewer.

She herself was killed a month later.

I'm sure everyone here will gladly choose to ignore this inescapable fact and continue the thoughtless cheerleading.
