Do I think such visual images or political rhetoric cause the actions of nutcases like this most recent one? Absolutely not. These people are so wrapped up in their own agenda, they don't care what anyone else says - not even the people who agree with them. They want the last word, they want the spotlight shone on them. This guy's bolt needed tightening on a daily basis. This guy sent out all kinds of warning signals, yet no one intervened. Our laws protect people like this. They're given a pass until they do something illegal. YET, people want to muzzle the media and take away free speech. I can't comprehend the double standard.

By far, nothing comes close to the hatred, vitriol, and violence of those times - the 60's. Perhaps the lessons learned have been forgotten.

Danzig already pointed out how ludicrous your statement was here, but seriously....what the hell are you talking about? The first amendment right to "freedom of speech" protects citizens from the government depriving a citizen of the right of "freedom of speech." Like most people I have no freaking idea what motivated the shooter. It might be worth considering however that when you get to the fringes of the anti-government movement, the line between "left-wing" and "right-wing" get rather blurry. Radicals often move pretty fluidly from hardcore marxism (the "left") to hardcore anarchism (the "right") in their attempts to bring down the government (or whatever their personal motive might be). Labels are therefore often inaccurate or misleading, and in my opinion make it even more ridiculous for anyone on either side to try to score cheap partisan political points off of the incident.

He is another example of a person who probably received a large amount of undeserved self-esteem builders. This guy had red flags all over him as he could not cope with life in general. Its pathetic that the media is using this for political advantage. The guy was a psycho, not a "tea partier" or "progressive"
