Its silly and stupid, they had the perfect format with 7 races and like racing always does F'd it all up.

![]() I like all the other additions (why would you not want more betting opportunities?), but this race is pretty laughable - especially on the dirt. It'll be interesting to see how the Euros run on dirt. . . I'm guessing they won't run well for the most part.

![]() It is a race in a non-existent division. They would be better off wth a filly turf sprint if they want to have C level BC races.

![]() I agree with you that it's a joke. Obviously it's meant to appeal to the Euros, as they have a "stayer" division over there. . . the fact that it's not on turf is possibly the biggest joke of all.

![]() On turf it would just be a bad race. On dirt it is a complete waste of time.

![]() Riot may say that peer-reviewed scientific study would show that there are less injuries in 1 3/4 dirt races than any other races in the US.

The turf sprint is even a novelty IMO, is there even a grade 1 turf sprint, or how many are grade 2 during the year. Again was better to have them try it in the dirt, would we have ever had a Sheik Albadou if there was a grass sprint?

![]() Thats a great comeback.......so the justification for it being the highest level of the sport is if its a great betting race.
They should make all stake races at Hoosier Park grade 1's and every race run at HP a listed stake if that was the case.

My knowledge doesn't go far enough back to confirm this, but all anyone ever says is how much the horses of today suck compared to the horses from past generations. . . so who cares about the "highest level of the sport"? The only way racing has any chance of surviving is if it is presented as an attractive betting product and alternative to the less intellectually driven forms of gambling that dominate the market. |

![]() Turf Sprints to me are a catch all for horses incapable of running in other distances/surfaces. Open the gates, run like hell and hope you can keep it going to the end. 5 furlongs bursts are easier than sustaining your speed going longer.... even over 6f's.

![]() And, I play these races @ CRC, TAM, GP, FG, MTH, KEE, CD, SAR, etc., and with the exception of, arguably, the strongest turf bias I've witnessed in over 30 years of playing the races, @ SAR, it doesn't really seem to work out as much as one would think for the speed. Which probably means these horses have a 'special' ability. Clearly, they have the best 'footwork' in the game. ![]() |

![]() Haven't followed the game since the last week @ SAR. Significantly behind in terms of data. Doubtful I catch up by BC day. No opinion, sorry.

![]() I love how TFM considers these horses plugs strictly because they specialize in something...most horses do specialize in one thing because that's what their trainers become good at. I don't mind turf sprints, I will play them. I think they are fun races and outstanding races to cap and bet because often times it's chaos at the finish and trips play the biggest part in them. And really I thought Saratoga's course didn't play so biased towards the turf sprints, it was the routes where horses went right to the front and strictly wired field. The 500 thousand dollar question here is though, even though he may play so many of them, is the opinion of an 0 for 66er at one point really the best place to look?
