It's like stating the period of time between December 31st 2010 and January 1st 2011 will be 2 years because, December 31st took place in 2010 and January 1st took place in 2011, that's '10 and '11, therefore it's two years.
This is, quite possibly, the silliest argument in semantics I've ever seen.

Reminds me of the scene in The Jerk..."We've known each other for 4 weeks and 2 days, but it seems like 9 weeks and 5 days. The first day seemed like a week. And the second day was like another week. The third day when you went to see you mother was just a day, but later when you came back and over into the 4th day, well that seemed like a total of 5 days"

Is it correct or not? Does the time period from November of 2007 to November of 2010 constitute 3 years or 4 years? Silly or not is not the question or argument. The statement was Zenyatta has raced almost 4 years. I came back with she hasn't even raced 3 years. It's horse racing threads, I've seen lots of silliness. I thought I'd toss my hat in.

Why does it matter? The horse has made 18 starts through six. Who cares if she's raced 1231 days or 1084 days? The answer would be nobody. Oh, well except the semantics police.

Why does it matter what races she runs in?? Obviously it must matter as there are about 8 million threads on it. I can't defend what races she runs in with any logic. I can defend the backhanded slam that she's only run 18 races in 4 years of running with complete logic. That is false and I simply stated it. I was correcting something that was stated as an obvious slam toward her.

Would it not be fair to say this is her fourth season of running? I think it would.

Yes, absolutely. Her 4 seasons of running have taken place in a 2 year and 9 month time frame. You just have to acknowledge that 2 seasons of running in the sport can certainly take place in a 2 day period as well. It certainly allows for liberal interpretations of time. So, yes, I'm 100 percent defeated, Zenyatta has run for 4 seasons. ( I best go back to making an idiot of myself on the sporty threads!)

Ghostzapper won a total of 9 races in 4 seasons of racing. If you want to be consistent, is this also not true?

And Ghostzapper's schedule also sucked, but that was because he was an exceptionally fragile animal. Ghostzapper is like 10 today and I'm pretty sure he could come out of retirement and at least finish top three in the Breeders Cup Classic this year.
