He is complaining that he pays too much for health insurance because of HIS preexisting condition and that he is happy that everyone else has to pay for him. Not that he cant get insurance or that his condition effects his ability to earn. It is simply more expensive that he likes. That is hardly an American ideal, well, outside of outside of Haight-Asbury and the White House. I mean seriously what person with any dignity says something like that? "I was an unlucky in the gene department and because of that I am happy to be a burden to others?" No doubt there are hypocrites on both sides. You hear a lot of whining on the right about illegal immigration yet very few of them are lining up to do the work that the illegals are literally crawling across the border to do. And like I have said before, a lot of the actual healthcare changes arent bad ideas. But the attitude that this particular guy takes is sad. |

![]() I do not support the government intervening in other types of business. I would not support government intervention when it comes the the electronics industry for instance, because no one needs televisions or laptops to survive.
But I support more accessible care if it means saving human lives. ANYONE can get into a circumstance where for whatever reason, they lose their job and health insurance and something unforeseen happens. What happens then? Are profit making insurance companies going to back you then? The way the system is set up is inhumane, even to those who want to find a job. You think it's so easy for everyone to find a job?? I have a part time job now, but there have been periods of my life where I went out every single day to every store/business I could find to apply for anything they have, and get turned down. You may have a steady job. That doesn't mean everyone that works hard at finding a steady job will find one. Just because YOU have a nice, steady situation, does not mean everyone else in this country does. The people voted these people in government in, and this is what government voted for. If anyone doesn't like it, I suggest working harder to get your conservative heroes voted in office. In any case, I find anyone's human life, hard working or not, important. We are not animals, we are supposed to be a species of higher intelligence with the means for curing major diseases. |

Didnt I earn the right to collect a pension by volunteering 20 years in the military? Maybe this country should go to a draft. More people will realize that military life isnt fun all the time. You must enjoy having your nose up the Democrat party's rear end. Hopefully in November the Democrat party will have a rude awakening and regret passing the health reform bill. Then lets see if O'Dumbass gets anything to pass. Im sure if the Republican party passes a bill just like the Democrats just did O'Dumbass will use his power of veto to spite the Rebuplican party. |

You have a guaranteed pension because you have been a government employee. The government is providing for you, through my taxes. They are giving you a safety net. And you begrudge kids with cancer a government provided safety net, too? Wow.

The reason young healthy people should be paying into a health system is because what drives insurance costs down for everyone is having a mix of both healthy and sick people in a policy. It's the reason insurance is cheaper for large companies and impossibly expensive for small ones- large companies have a larger pool of applicants, many of whom won't need much in the way of health care because they're healthier than others. Insurance companies assume that people buying individual care are only doing so because they are sick and charge them accordingly. Without healthy people in a health care system, prices continue to go up. It's why Europeans pay less for health care and get more from it than we do (yes, they do. Sorry guys. FOX is lying to you). Since everyone is paying into the system, via taxes, the risk is spread out and average costs drop. Insurance depends on a lot of people who aren't going to need to collect on it paying into a system on the off chance they might need it. People trying to buy individual policies are not being permitted into the system. Not to mention, people without insurance have no bargaining power, and hospitals charge them anywhere from 100 to 400 percent more than they charge insured people- to make up for people who can't pay for their hospital bills. So they people who can't afford insurance are getting charged more for the same service than the people who have it, because the insurance companies have negotiated steep discounts for services. This is a very simplistic explanation, I know, but the misinformation about health care is pretty astounding.

The old fraks who payed into the SS system for 40 years no doubt should be indebted to you for paying their SS for them. Hard to believe that someone who most likely a card carrying member of the ACLU would think that people should be forced into buying health insurance. Of course individual rights are always trampled on by the left when it serves their purpose to do so. Insurance companies assume that individuals who buy policies are already sick? And Fox news is lying? Healthy people trying to buy individual policies are being denied? Hospitals are willing to take a small fraction of what an uninsured patients is billed. While I hate to inject personal experiences I was treated for kidney stones this Spring during a lapse in our coverage. Because I was uninsured they were willing to take $1100 cash on a $7300 bill that they thought was covered by Blue Cross. They almost assuredly wrote off the rest. |
