I don't think anyone is saying this horse is a world-beater
It's a first race. The positive experience is most important, I'd say. He lucked into a good experience for a firster - sat behind, got plenty of dirt kicked in his face but wasn't bumped, pinned, intimidated, checked; then got to come out and learned he has to - and he can - pass horses.That he got money is a bonus.
