I think whoever mentioned it the other day was right. His father was the one who kept him on the path, but he's not here anymore.

Take a look at what Rachel Uchitel looked like back in 2001. As the father of her fiancee at the time has said, she doesn't even look like the same person. Not only does she look totally different, but her whole persona is just completely different. It's hard to belive that it is the same person.
