The U.S. Open has its own asinine scheduling ritual to blame for the delayed men's and women's finals. This scheduling of singles quarters and semis third, fourth and fifth on Ashe is just playing with fire. Before they got the roof at Wimbledon, they always started with the singles on Centre Court by 1:00 at the latest so that if the rains came or the matches took too long, they still got them in. I understand the USTA loves its primetime matches, but put the stupid doubles on Armstrong and make sure you get the singles matches in. Of course today that wouldn't have mattered, but Nadal and Gonzo would've completed their quarter Thursday and there still would've been a chance at a Sunday final. Now it's Monday at the earliest.
