NY Times article on the same issue:

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/11/us...romises&st=cse

Although Mr. Obama has not publicly identified which priorities will have to wait, advisers and allies have signaled that they may put off renegotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement, overhauling immigration laws, restricting carbon emissions, raising taxes on the wealthy and allowing gay men and lesbians to serve openly in the military.

he said a few months ago that he would refrain from raising cap gains taxes for now, as he didn't want to adversely affect the economy-i am assuming that is what he meant about raising taxes on the wealthy...i thought it was interesting, since he had said it wouldn't affect the economy back when he was determined to raise them.

my biggest worry is this new package they (congress and the new pres) say they want to pass--it's a huge package, and will cause our debt to balloon tremendously...i just hate to see us try to get out of a crisis caused mainly from bad credit by using...credit.

Now, unless I can't read, Obama isn't saying what Dimmy was passing off as what he said, but no surprise there. Still waiting Dimmy.

and that makes sense-we all know that congress can get sidetracked as easily as a two year old on a playground.

What is so difficult to grasp here? Obama is saying some of the things he said he was going to do in his campaign are being pushed back because he is walking into a financial crisis. I'm not sure if you noticed the crisis, but it's bad Dimmy. So bad that it should be the number one focus of whatever President is taking office. Now, if McCain had won, and said the same thing Obama did, it's a non issue to you. Get over it already.
i think you're right on that.

i don't think you hope it works out ok. i think you want him to fall flat on his face, so you can start more threads like this one. the guy basically says our economy is the first, last and only priority right now, and you start a thread talking about how he's already backtracking on his promises.

You can feel how you like, but there's articles galore about Obamas' missteps
by liberal publications and sites, and legislators.

If he fell on his face , the country will suffer more damage...and I don't want that.

....stay tuned,Ziggy!
