Would he want them to marry his daughter?
Did he consider them his equal?
Would he want his daughter to have offspring with them and become a part of the family?
Would he ask them to join his Country Club?

A yes answer is possible to the above, but highly unlikely based on what I have read.
BTW I did not bring up the racist thing.

but since we are intent on going there...

What if the black office worker has a few autistic family members? Would it still be racist to not want your daughter to marry a guy from a tard family?

the misery? Dont read the posts.

I swear to GOD it works, I tried it.
If I feel inclined to throw up on myself,
after reading some of my thoughts, I somehow
pull it together and...

I stop reading them.

But I will leave them up for others to heave

What percentage of parents in this country would want their daughter to marry someone of another race? I don't know the answer but I don't think the percentage would be very high. If your definition of being a racist is a parent who would not want their daughter to marry someone of another race, then I would guess that well over 50% of Americans are racists.

Most parents want their children to have a happy marriage I would think.
Imo the problem occurs when some ethnic groups have cultural differences that do not fit well with other ethnic groups.
A small example:

I will make a large generalization.
In the Hispanic culture, the male is the head of the family, the dominant family member. In many cases I have noticed it is OK (even expected) for the male to cheat on his spouse, but not the other way around (probably true for Caucasians to a lesser degree imo). The women are expected to be very subservient also. I personally would not want my daughter to marry into that sort of situation. One in which she was considered a vastly unequal partner. The COLOR has nothing to do with it.

So are we talking ethnic CULTURAL differences or just purely ethnic COLOR differences?

And yes. If 50% of the parents in the US would not want their children to marry someone they felt great affection for, and had a great deal in common with, based purely on ethnic color diffences, then 50% of the US is racist by my definition.

Maybe I have a skewed view. One of my best friend's daughter has an African American boyfriend from Britian. They have a great deal in common, appear to love each other, and plan to be married. I know the boy well and he is a great kid. The girl I have known since she was a wee lass and I trust her judgement. They know if they have kids they will face problems from people that are intolerant. I wish they were the same color because of the intolerance that exists. But they are not... So they forge ahead.

You asked if we are talking about ethnic cultural differences or purely color cultural differences. I don't know how you can distinguish between the two. They are inter-connected. Why are most people prejudice about a certain race in the first place? It is usually because of their stereotypical views about people of that race. They're not just prejudiced of the group because of the group's skin color. They are prejudiced against the group because they think that people with that particular skin color have certain negative cultural characteristics.

That is pretty much what racism is. It is disliking people of a certian race because of the belief that most or all of the people in that race have certain negative characteristics.

No I dont believe this at all. I have been to a number of places
that had I been black, I would have not been welcome. I could
have come in with an accent, mannerisms, everything the same
as the people present except color, and I would not have been welcome.
Based purely on color. That is the negative characteristic.
Its that simple.

The two can be very different. Obama certainly does not
appeal to black voters because of his mannerisms.

Anyways, if you want more on Helms look at his thoughts on
preventing the spread of AIDS in the US. He will not go down
as a model of our democratic society, and deservedly so imo.
Its not just race as I already represented with the Contra thing.
The body of evidence is not in his favor imo.

But I understand what you are saying. All you have to do is watch
black comedians who do the white mannerisms, or vice versa.

If you want your daughter to marry(or not marry) someone of a specific race, then you are a racist. It's not cool to want to have your daughter marry a person of a specific race. By definition, that's racism. Somehow Rupert doesn't think it's wrong to want a daughter to marry only someone of her own race. What kind of fkd up conservative thought gymnastics is that? That is exactly what racism is. It doesn't get excused just because so many people think that way. There are just a lot of racists. That's all it means. If well over 50% of Americans are racists, then that's just a fact. There are some countries where 99.99% of people are racist.

Hard to be really sad or respectful after the death of a shockingly hateful, racist, anti-gay, neanderthal-thinking in longing for the return of the good-ol' 1850s, son of a bitch like Helms.

Oh well.

Well, I've never celebrated anyone's death and won't start now, but silencing a voice that advocated pretty much everything I despise...I can't help but think that's an ok thing. Defending Mr Helm's is sorta like talking about the trains running on time in fascist Italy or saying Adolph was kind to Eva, I suppose Stalin had this dog that he loved...nobody is 100% evil or pure, you can always make a case for/against anyone if it means that much to you...my question has to be "why"? (and no, before the question is asked, I'm not comparing Helm's actions to the above, just using them as an analogy). As others have stated, Helms never backed away from his views, they are there for the world to see/read...you either agree with him or not...and no amount of black staffers or adopted children changes his legacy.

it not clear to me what all of the hatred is about, and nobody really says what it is specifically, its just that he should be hated. everyone says it should be clear, to me its not clear at all what he did or said that should be so despised. of course I stand to be labeled a racist lunatic for saying that, but i call it like i see it. not saying i stand toe to toe with every single one of his social positions, but frankly he was a effective leader in a group that often is shown to be quite spineless.

I can only hope that when I die, the things that I've said that are about 0.5% as awful as every other word out of that stupid bigot's mouth will be as kindly whitewashed (so to speak....) by those who are so eager to do so for Mr. Helms.

I find no joy, as it may be, in anyone's death, but God knows that this world can only be a better place without his filth in it.

"There is not one single case of AIDS in this country that cannot be traced in origin to sodomy."

"I've been portrayed as a caveman by some. That's not true. I'm a conservative progressive, and that means I think all men are equal, be they slants, beaners or niggers."

"I've never heard once in this chamber anybody say to thehomosexuals, 'stop what you're doing.' If they would stop what they're doing there would not be one additional case of AIDS in the United States."

"To rob the Negro of his reputation of thinking through a problem in his own fashion is about the same as trying to pretend that he doesn't have a natural instinct for rhythm and for singing and dancing."

"The Negro cannot count forever on the kind of restraint that's thus far left him free to clog the streets, disrupt traffic, and interfere with other men's rights."
