He is a big horse race fan and very knowledgeable about the sport, which did surprise me. He reviewed all the people on the list and reviewed in detail the agenda. Some of the witnesses include Jess Jackson, Randy Moss, Richard Shapiro, Jack Van Berg, Allan Marcell, Arthur Hancock and quite a few from the vet/medical side...Alex Waldrop and Ali Concord were the only names I could get.

A big part of their focus he said was going to be on the health and well fair of low level claimers at smaller tracks, what is their care like, should they be running and what happens to them after they don't run anymore. He specifically brought up Ask The Lord as an example of a horse that will be reviewed.

He welcomes e-mails and opinions at Christian.Fjeld@mail.house.gov

Steve...I think you should try and get him on the show..well spoken, knowledgeable and not a witch hunt, at least that I could tell
I may have asked him if they were going to focus on the smaller tracks than why not actually invite someone who may know what the hell is going on there instead of the people named? I may have also asked why did they seemingly only invite people who have come out in public on one side of the issue?

Someone more knowledgeable than me should ask him those questions then. I wanted to get contact information up in case anyone wanted to pursue this with them. I don't disagree to earlier posts that this isn't worthy of a congressional hearing, but it is happening so if someone wants to be heard, there is a way.

I would love to hear someone explain the reasons this place exists:

Sunday, 6/8
Presque Isle Downs
Total Purses: $170,000
Total Handle: $166,000 ($29,000 on track)
Total Attendence: 913

They ran 3 open ALW races. Two of the races drew 4 horse fields and had win pools of $4,000-$5,000.

The ony thing these slot tracks do is create welfare for horsepeople. And rob real racetracks of decent horses to run in competitive full field races.

Pretty hard to argue against the idea that there are too many race tracks running too many bad races for too many bad horses.

The ADW situation has hurt PID's handle - so the stats are a little misleading because of that - but I pretty much agree with you.
