What is it with O'neill horses of late? Overextended certainly was not extended today as I think he's still running out there...

I don't know if it's him, or Redam, but he continually puts horses in spots they have no business being in. I mean, Notional going to Dubai was hilarious, as has been every race Great hunter has run in since the Bluegrass Stakes last year. It's clear to everyone that many of these horses need serious class relief, yet they manage to put them in impossible spots over and over again.

He's a contrast of two varying extremes, he's done some marvellous things with modestly inexpensive horses and not so marvellous things with higher priced talent.

102-103 is a very big number for him. A shame this horse toiled with Johnson for his entire career.

the horse looked like a different animal, racing close to the pace and with good interest late. did not look like the Perfect Drift of recent years. Mandella is going to get him in the winners circle again.

I agree, and he was checked late in that race on the final turn. It will be some story when he does win...

He might...but will have to be an opt claiming race. Yesterdays race wasnt impressive. He got an inside trip for a suck up 4th. He beat the Frankel horse who was way too close to the pace...and two horrible horses..... PD will take dumb money next time out and be a huge bet against.

Not only did he check at the quarter pole, he was in tight that whole final quarter of a mile. He didn't really have anywhere to go that final 1/16th of a mile. I think he had at least 1-2 lengths of trouble. With a clean trip, I think he would have had a shot to run 2nd.

In addition, a mile is not his best distance and this was a very fast race. All things considered, I think he ran great.
