I think going from ONE to TWO turns on the grass, especially if never attempted previously, is one of the most difficult things for a horse to do. There are all kinds of footwork issues that come into play. This almost never works at BEL, or SAR, for example. In fact, this move is typical of the LOWER IQ trainers.

Yet, it seems to do a bit better on 'smaller' tracks.

To take a horse like Shipwatch, that tried hard last out and never got a chance to run until very late, and then ROUTE him FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER off that effort, is mind boggling to me.

Rahoo, on the other hand, at least has routed once on the turf and didn't have a 'frustrating' trip last out.
