Default Hermosillo WINS, Wire to Wire

Hermosillo WINS, Wire to Wire.

3 year old gelding wins Monmouth #4

Hopefully Hermosilla will do the same at Wyoming Downs this afternoon!

Quite a coincidence that both of these similarly named horses race on the same day.

He finished second, by a length or two.

He battled gamely to the wire to get his head in front for place although he appeared to be tired.

enjoy your retirement buddy! you earned it.

Funny.. I remember this horse when it started racing out in California... Good to see that he will have a good home.

He ran again on the 27th of August and finished 6th in what was said to be his final start:
Quote:
Hermosilla, a 15-year-old gelding believed to be the oldest Thoroughbred racing in North America, is scheduled to make the final start of his career on Sunday at the Elko County Fair in Elko, Nev. He is the 2-1 morning-line favorite in the second race, a $2,500 claiming sprint at 5 1/2 furlongs. Hermosilla comes into the race off a second-place finish at the same level at Wyoming Downs on Aug. 5. He finished three lengths behind a class dropper, and earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 51.

He's in for a claim of 1,600.00 what's up with that.
The trainer keeps saying it's his last race and keeps putting him in claimers.
And the old boy club thought he was retired....we'll have to get our leader on him to find out what the story is..
