Go to tihs web site by the chamber of commerce.
http://www.saratoga.org/ They have people with a complete list of hotels, who have vacancies, and can tell you everything you need to know. Phone number at bottom of page Very helpful and well staffed during the season. Spyder

 Man, I'm still trying to get out of work and find a hotel to get up there this weekend but not at that price!

calling all cars on this one!!!!!!!!!
i have decided to head up to the spa hopefully to see Sumwons race on the 5th. I have pretty much decided to torture myself for the ride home (taking the $40 Greyhound bus for 10 hours) and taking the Amtrak into Saratoga Springs on Saturday the 4th. Here are the hotel options that are some what reasonable Rates from 8/4-8/7 (checking out tuesday) Locust Grove Motel (Malta, NY) $99 a night 5 miles from the track McGregor Inn Motel (Wilton, NY) $110 a night 4 miles from the track Saratoga Motel (Saratoga Springs, NY) $189 a night 3 miles from the track Top Hill Motel (Saratoga Springs, NY) $126 a night .5 miles from the track still waiting on rates from The Design Motel and the Thorobred Motel anyone have any opinions on the hotels i have searched? any help would be much appreciated gl all -bt-

FYI for day-trippers- Amtrak offers a shuttle bus from the train station to the track and back again for free and includes general admission.
Mind you, the train was an hour-and-a-half late getting back to NYC, and was so cold I literally wrapped myself up in my newspaper, so that I looked just like a homeless person, but it was quite pleasant on the way up, anyway.
