I'm pretty sure that Willie was expecting at least a few others to go out for the lead early and that he could settle her behind them, but when no one even tried for the front, he had no choice but to grab it, and I think a filly like her DOES NOT want to give up the lead once she's got it. Then when the other two fillies came to him, she wanted to keep going, and that's what got her caught in that hot second quarter.

That's how I saw it too ateam. Natural for any horse to not want them to pass and speed up in the process.
