Just by looking at the balance sheets between MGM could crush Churchill

MGM GRAND Cash Assets
2005 2004 2003
Cash And Cash Equivalents 377,933 435,128 178,047

Churchill
Cash And Cash Equivalents 27,683 34,979 18,053

The question is, what percentage is MGM going to commit to the racing in New York.

Good question. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

Can we bet on this?

I believe they will commit what it takes to get the franchise because they realize that having slots in NYC will reap incredible action. And no way is CD or anyone else going to outbid them if they want it.

I'm inclined to agree with you Oracle.
Has anyone heard what Trump is doing?
The NYC slots will sink his AC interests.
I wouldn't be surprised to see him make some alliances pretty quickly.

The shady mobsters in NYRA will pay off the right people. They shouldn't get it and some should be in jail, but it is NY where the word legal means nothing.

Bold Ruler,
I usually don't respond to your posts, as you've probably noticed.
Would you care to furnish some names to support your statement?

So let me get this straight, I repeated medical opinions from a surgeon I know last week, ones that sadly turned out to be far truer than anyone would have hoped, and you flew off the handle. You called me a liar. You said my stories were irresponsible and flat out fabrications. In a nutshell, you were completely out of line.

Now, you make a post here where you refer, generically, to employees at NYRA as " shady mobsters " and say that some of them should be in jail. I suppose this is a responsible post to you? Of course, it has as much validity as the garbage you spewed last week. So, what it would really be is the status quo from you.

Who are these " shady mobsters "? What specifically have they done that both makes them " shady monsters " and should also land them in jail?

Nothing like a little hypocracy to expose someone.

This is a ridiculous statement.. Who 'should be in jail'? THERE ISN'T ANYONE in current top management that was at NYRA during the 'problem' period. So who are you refering to? What are the illegalities they are involved with? Specifics.. ENOUGH WITH THE INNUENDO...

You arent going to outbid MGM--no way and no how. It is all about what % MGM is going to throw at horse racing. Remember, they MGM is also the biggest donor to people who favor anti-gaming legislation.

Mark my words, in the end, when its all settled, Nyra retains the horse racing side with MGM running the slots.
The fact is the dispute over who owns the land is the trump card. I asked a pretty good lawyer about this and my first question was who owns the land. He said he wasn't sure if there was enough there for NYRA to win the dispute in the end. I then asked him if there was enough of a doubt for NYRA to get the case to court and get an injunction against anyone who wanted to race on the property and he said without a doubt.
NYA will keep this franchise in the end.

Shoot the land is the most valuable thing in all this. Well I dont know that NYRA would have a leg to stand on in court if the state awarded the franchise to another company. NYRA would lose that battle. But I agree that with MGM behind NYRA they will keep the license. However, it will be real interesting to see who has the final say so in matters that involve both slots and horse racing.

I like the NYRA. I want them to keep it, with backing or not.
