I saw that article earlier. It would be interesting if the big three come back. I'd be quite surprised though. Also it might be a case of be careful what you wish for. Do we want a big field..which would be the case(as many as 12 I've heard) if one or two of the big three dont' show....or......do we want a smaller field with the big three being in...Am I making any sense?
Personally I would love to see a rematch....So does NYRA. |

Nobody is going to watch it if the big 3 don't come back.
Having a small field, but with the big 3, would be the best thing to happen as long as the horses all come out of the Preakness okay. I would love it as well. |

Shug's horse (My Flag) won the Grade 1 Coaching Club American Oaks by open lengths in her next start after the Belmont. She also won the Grade 1 Gazelle three starts after her 3rd place finish in the Belmont. As far as from a speed figure standpoint, My Flag ran a 100 Beyer in her 3rd place finish in the Belmont Stakes. She ran five more times that year, and her figures were 102, 97, 98, 103, and 100. I wouldn't call that ruined.....but, I did have to actually go back and look her up to remember everything that happened for sure. I just got Smart Strike confused with another Ontario bred horse who came from Woodbine (Langfuhr) in another post earlier today....I'm slipping a little with my memory from these mid-90's horses. |
