Default Steve....

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't WildnCrazyguy the one that Bill Kaplan mentioned weeks back on ATRAB that he really wanted to get into the Derby? Because he said he's bred to love that distance?

The tri in the '05 Derby paid a hell of a lot more than $15k. Try like $90k for a $2 ticket.

Yeah freaking Giaocomo, I had Closing Argument in all spots on my tickets, and only had Giaocomo 2nd,3rd and 4th. My first time bettor friend was jumping up and down, "our horses came in,our horses came in", then I had to explain why we didnt get crapola!

Yeah, I hit the exacta and my wife at the time asked why I hadn't bet the tri since I also had Afleet Alex on my ticket.

Well....his sire (Wild Event) was a graded stakes winner at 10f and 12f, but he hasn't exactly been siring a lot of great routers in his stud career. His dam-side doesn't look THAT great to me (he is out of an unraced Top Account mare) in terms of 10f ability.
Of course.....the real reason to toss him in a G1 10f race, has less to do with pedigree, and more to do with the fact that he is 2 for 11 lifetime and has yet to win a stakes race.

Does Derby fever just drive you to enter a horse regardless of ability or does it also induce hallucinations that you have a better animal than you do? Of course watch the bugger win the thing but my idea is, even if a horse I didn't pick wins, I want to be able to enjoy it and root for that horse in the future. Not go 'oh crap, as if he'll ever repeat that effort.' Essentially if this horse wins, I don't know that I'd find it terribly fun at all, not for the connections, the horse, or myself. Do we have any idea what they're doing with Xchanger as of yet? Did the trainer for Slew's Tizzy speak too soon and his owner's all for it? I'm trying to figure out who we can nudge to the side to get Chelokee in, not because I'm all over Chelokee as much as I'm happy for Matz to be back with a live one. The horse is nice too though. I hate keeping out horses that folks want in. That's the main thing.

Imawildandcrazyguy really caught my eye with his nice finish at the Risen Star. He also did his running late in that one which had a 'wild pace set up and traffic problems for Circular Quay. He hasn't really reached the top class level in his last couple of preps, although he has made some independant moves within the races.
I happen to think he needs some class relief and probably is best at about 8.5 furlongs. It is possible that he could like 10furlongs if it eliminates some of his competition, my guess would be that he would flatten out.

Hey I hope Chelokee gets in with as many fans as he has.
