Exactly...Rail was golden today at Hawthorne, matter of fact, I think every winner was from there. I almost drove to hawthorne from Trackside to find ET Baird for his horrible ride on that 2 horse in the stakes races. I was alive to a straight $50 pick three in that race (Magnus/Singing Saints/2 horse)....leaves the rail wide open for that maiden to just coast through.....

Regarding Bold Start though, I think it was telling that Kent D didn't come here for that. he has had alot of success coming here (last two years now that I think about it) and if he thought he had any shot at winning, he would have been here.....

I agree re: Baird on Rich N Clever. You're on the lead and should be on the concrete highway. Why give it up?

As for Desormeux, he may have been replaced. He got Bold Start in some trouble in the Hutcheson. I don't know if he would've won but he could've won that race w/a clean trip. I'd still take him any day over Melancon, who's an aging rider who's much better on turf.

I highly doubt you replace Kent Desormeaux with Larry Melancon, regardless how bad he rides your horse....

Melancon is kind of a bad dirt rider. From what you've described I am baffled that he changed tactics. Usually he gets the horse out going ridiculous splits and they're retreating before the stretch run.

Was Melancon the jock who blew the ride on Ketchikan last time?
