Dude, I was expressing my emotions essentially, if I could, I would personally thank them in person because I appreciate heart/pain/passion more then I appreciate talent. People don't respect talent, they respect passion and EVERY ONE of those Salukis has PASSION

I love heart, pain, and passion as much as the rest, but if that isn't getting me the W's then it really doesn't matter to me. Maybe thats just because ND fans expect a little more, and don't just settle.

If it doesn't matter to you then you miss one of the essential qualities of ATHLETICS, COMPETITION, and Atmosphere.

To use an old school saying, it isn't if you win or lose, it is how you play the game.

If you play the game like the Salukis do, you will win. If Notre Dame had HALF the heart and passion that SIU had, in ANY of their athletics, they would easily win a national title. They are spoonfed.

And as far as College football game, it is the biggest crock of crap their is. Lets have 15 people sit in a room and pick two teams out of a bizillion to play for one title. It wouldn't make sense to pick 16 teams and let them play for it.

HAHAHAHA Are you kidding me, you really thinking SIU has more heart than Notre Dame. Just because SIU doesn't get the media coverage that ND gets, doesn't mean ND has less heart. Notre Dame was built on heart, toughness, and tradition. Notre Dame hasn't been getting the recruits they have wanted do to academic standards, and heart alone isn't going to win you a Championship when you play with the big boys, maybe if your SIU and you play with the Mid Majors it might.

O, and by the way, if you want to talk heart let us talk about Notre Dames mens hockey team. Really, they were projected to be nothing this year. They have already won the CCH regular season title, and the CCH playoff title (both first in school history). This team was projected to be nothing by everyone, and look at what they are doing. They have a great shot at being National Champions, the road for them starts tomorrow.

GO IRISH!!!!!!!!!!!!

You act like noone gives a **** about hockey. I love Horse Racing, but how many people that aren't involved in the sport really give a **** about it? Hockey has a lot more fans than horse racing.

What has NOTRE DAME done in the last 10 years anyways? NOTHING. Notre Dame is a bunch of spoonfed athletes that haven't had to EARN anything. To play basketball at SIU, you have to EARN your way on the team, you have to play 1 on 1 against someone at your position until Lowery says STOP. He had Tatem going against Young until they were almost HOSPITALIZED. THEY EARNED team respect. They earned their coaches respect.

Like people respected Brady Quinn, all he cared about was his NFL contract. Trust me, I know ALOT about Notre Dame, I live in their biggest alumni area and have been to many games. Notre Dame was built on CASH, not on anything you are describing. Go watch Rudy again and believe that is actually what happened.

Notre Dame hater be gone. Just cause you wish SIU had just a little bit of the traditon and glory that is Notre Dame, it's ok, I understand. We are talking the Class of Division 1 athletics, and some mid major.

That's one of the most ridiculous things I have read on here. Please don't try to tell me the SIU basketball program gives out no scholarships. I think to play basketball at SIU you have to be a REALLY good high scool player or a JC transfer and win a scholarship much like goes on at other schools....that's how they "earn" their way onto the team. My guess is they have to "earn" their way into the lineup...pretty much like all the other schools as well. My guess is however, SIU gives out a few b-ball scholarships here and there and most likely most of their players tonight were on them.

This is a public forum so I thought I would join the fray. One of Notre Dame's problems is they haven't been playing with the BIG BOYS. Outside of the USC game at Notre Dame they have been pimp slapped by the BIG BOYS. They're popularity is their own worst enemy right now. ND is getting in bowl games they don't deserve to be in simply because they are ND. Only one major problem with that for ND, unfortunately their opponents have deserved to be there and have made that more than obvious while playing against ND. They desperatly need some wins with substance behind them which they haven't had of late.

Irish slow down buddy, I'm a big ND fan, but you are bordering on lunacy here. ND has not been solid in football or basketball in 10 years. This years ND basketball team was a joke. Winthrop please, SIU played one of the top 5 teams in the country on a neutral court and came up just short. Why are you talking about ND having heart when SIU won 2 more games then they did in the dance.

C'mon Scavs, Notre Dame must have quite a bit of heart. I have some records to back me up on this one. I didn't take the time to look them up but I believe these are very close. Iraq 0-2 Japan 0-1 Great Britain 0-1 Germany 0-1 Notre Dame 310-7. Who in the history of the world has defeated the Army, Navy, and Air Force more than Notre Dame?

ND fans have not been settling, and we will not settle and be happy until we win the National Championship. That doesn't mean we won't support our team, but anything less than the championship is a little dissapointing. Higher expecations as always for our beloved Notre Dame.

Scavs, your team played some of the best basketball I've seen in a while. They their pace on a very good kansas team. They were playing a team that was more athletic, stronger, deeper, quicker, and taller, yet they never quit. I'll take a team like that any day.
