Ok. I am not a huge Pletcher fan because of something that might have happened this year to get one of his horses into the derby, but the fact is it probably wasn't him or his people anyway. One thing about Pletcher, he is the best in the business. Guy knows how to find races for his horses.

Notice I didn't say anything specifically. Quite different than using a specific name of a horse and talking about injuries or drug use or whatever. Rumors make the business go as long as nobody states them as fact.

YOu mean like accusing Dutrow as well like he did yesterday in a thinly veiled refrence? Look I like Joel and his passion and his love of the game. But hes talking down to a few of us that he should be talking TO , not down to. How long do you let a guy talking like that go unchecked?
I like the guy, but not everything he is spouting is on the mark.

Haha, I don't think he is the only one you will find spouting about dutrow. You hear that at the track more than the call to the post.

Mike you are 100% correct. As you know I worked in the Auto Racing industry for a couple years. I was witness to some things that I will never repeat in a public forum, guys that are on TV every Sunday now making a great living racing in Nextel Cup. The bottom line is this Joel, if I may offer this suggestion -

You obviously work in this business, and the point I am going to make is doubly important for you because apparently you write and need to get quotes, etc from people in the business. If Todd Pletcher by chance read what you wrote on this board, what do you think will go thru his head? My guess is this - the next time he sees you, the next time you need a quote or interview from him, he just might tell you the same thing he told the VP.

Joel again this coming from someone who made a similar mistake in 1998. I was in the pits at a track telling a story about what happened the previous night with an announcer and 3 Miller Light Girls to one of my buddies. Word spread and I almost lost my job.

Zito has banned lots of guys from interviews for doing exactly that kind of thing. They ask for an interview and he tells them very nicely that he doesnt have time to be assasinated right now. LOL!!!

Not in the interviewing business anymore, but I still obviously don't want to make enemies with Todd pletcher.....I guess I just don't see the fuss here...if he really won't like me because of this then that would say a lot about him....he could probably care less about who i am, but where I want to be one day in this game would probably put me involved with him and I certainly would like to have a good relationship with him.....i guess I'll get prosecuted for this ticky-tack post

Yep... those Nascar guys are hardcore. I have seen too much back in the pits.

Look Oracle...I am not breaking news about him curcing Steve in private..I wouldn't do that...this was in front of SEVERAL race fans....you can't pretend that it didn't happen.....if he were in the NBA he would have been fined by the league because you just have a greater responsibilty to display class and tact in front of the customers...

Fugitte was trying to enhance the experience for a few fans when he asked Todd that Q and got that response...i was sitting right there...it can't be denied or ignored just because he is Todd pletcher....I'm sure he was having a bad day and he just slipped up...it happens and I don't dislike Todd one bit, but from an administrative standpoint - you want more of the star players in your league being like Peytun Manning and not Terrell Owens if you know what I mean )and no, I'm NOT comparing him to TO..just saying)...

The fact remains that he has a great responsibility as a top trainer and face in our game, and when he does ANYTHING negative it poorly represents more than himself...

I think hes a great trianer and probably a great guy and if you tell him and he hates me for it then that is fine...I don't dislike the guy...i just call things as I see them and it was no huge secret because it was embarrassing to the fans that heard his comments that day...that doesn't mean he's a mass murderer...the sitaution is what it is....you are the only one on this thread that appears to take exception to my post - but thats not surprising to me...you've been like that since i began posting...have a nice day

Joel, you get the point obviously. No it may not have been a secret but you certainly could have found lots of ways to dig at him without revealing that incident. I'm sure you are a nice guy in person and I was trying to make a point, I'm not going to say anything. Airing personal dirty laundry just isnt soemthing I like. There are lost of ways to jump on people without doing that!!!!

In that case, I apologize for being insensative...I wasn't trying to be maliscious...I certainly didn't join this board to talk down at people and talk bad about trainers, etc.....that is just my persoanlity and at times it can be taken a bit out of context because I have strong opinion and convictions about this game and they sometimes aren't best represented by typing on this stupid keypad...

I love this sport with everything I have and could probably be making twice the money in another profession, but this is all I think about all day and this is all I focus my life's energy towards....I really like this chat forum and i don''t want to be hated or poorly thought of by anyone here or anywhere in the horseracing world/industry for that matter.....sorry
