Your teacher's claims could have been accurate. He taught at U of Michigan, many summer programs at Middlebury College in Vermont, and most notably at Amherst College in Mass. Quite remarkable for a man who never graduated from college, but received something like 40 honorary degrees over his lifetime.

I think that you would enjoy reading his poetry. They are so simple on the surface and contain so much depth.

Robert Frost truly a fav pf mine. I too dabble in rhyme and have since my college days. Prehaps I'll share few here but under a separate thread so we can keep horse racing to horse racing. More to follow

I have written poetry a little here and there, but most of it long forgotten. I do remember writing one to a girl when I was in college. She was Miss America beautiful. Unfortunately, I am more like Barney Fife so it didn't work out. Sorry, Don, I'll be good now and turn my attention to the task at hand. As for the Sword Dancer, I think I'll go with Broome. Not a picture of consistency, but seems to be getting some breaks for this and very nearly won the BC Turf last year.
