My opinion on the Preakness is hardly controversial. If you asked any of the other handicappers on this board they would tell you the exact same thing that I told you. If this race was going to be run again in a month and it was going to be a 4 horse field between the top 4 finishers, this would be my morning line:
War of Will 1-1 Warrior's Charge 7-5 Owendale 6-1 Everlast 25-1 The only chance Everlast would have would be if War of Will and Warrior's Charge went head and head in :45 3/5, Owendale was sitting too close and Everlast dropped 15-20 lengths back. That would be Everlast's only chance. And if you ask any of the other handicappers on this board, I guarantee that they would tell you the same thing. |

I think Everfast passed Owendale in the last jump. I wish I knew where to see the photo.

Everlast benefitted from a strong rail bias IMO. Owendale made the sweepy charge on the outside...ie, the bad part of the track that day. The races throughout the day back up this thought. I would take Owendale over Everlast moving forward.

You asked if Everlast was going to catch War of Will. The answer is no. Should I have just said no, without elaborating? Was he gaining on him is a different question. He obviously gained on him from the 1/8th pole to the wire. At the 1/8th pole, he was around 3 1/2 lengths back. At the wire he was 1 1/4 lengths back. So, yes he was gaining on him. But no, he wasn't going to beat him.

If you had Everlast in the Preakness then as a Handicappers(this Forum or click)you made one hell of bet because pace or no pace Everlast did not figure in the standard handicapping parlance!
