Tampa Bay Downs - Derby Lanes

Double headers are nothing. Trifectas are the way to go. I feel a possible Grand Slam at the Tampa reunion in a few months.

I remember one time, decades ago, that a bunch of friends and I did Hollywood Park and then went down the freeway to Los Alamitos for the quarter horses. We didn't get there until nearly mid-card, but who cared!

That was some 30 years ago...before drunk driving became the real criminal issue that it is now. We were all three sheets to the wind that night, and I don't know how we got there, and I have no idea how I got home.

All I'm saying is...don't drive drunk. The potential consequences could destroy your life and that of your family as well.

Anyway, I'm surprised actually that I remember that night....going from Hollywood Park to Los Alamitos. I'm not really proud of it.

I remember doing the Roosevelt/Roosevelt doubleheader on Saturdays during the Saratoga thoroughbred meeting roughly 35 years back. The afternoon program had a blue cover and and the evening programs sported the standard red cover. (This four week doubleheader season taught me how differently some horses respond to afternoon versus evening racing.)

Also going back to 1977, I can remember doing the afternoon thoroughbred (Aqueduct/Belmont) meeting and then driving eastbound to either Roosevelt or continuing to Parr Meadows for the Quarterhorse meeting. (The Quarters also raced a second time in 1986 at the Parr Meadows facility under the Suffolk Meadows banner.)

Well stated. No worries here. My alcohol level will be the exact same as mr. Blutarsky"s grade point average, 0.0

Forgot a really off-beat doubleheader when I was visiting Colorado as the best man at my friend's wedding : Arapahoe Park (afternoon) and Mile Hile (greyhound racing).
