Balletto, Do you go to any of the two-year old sales in Florida? If you go to any of the sales in February and March, it gives you a good idea of who the hot new sire may be. I knew that Orientate would have a good year because his 2 year olds looked so good at the sales. By the same token, practically all the babies by Budha did not look very good. Granted the sample is not that big, but if you get to watch 10-15 horses work who are by the same sire, that gives you a decent sample. With Orientate, I must have watched at least 15 of his 2 year olds work at the sales in February and March and at least half of them could really run. With some of the other sires, it was more like 10%.
