I have another story for you. A friend of mine was going to a dentist for a few years and practically every time he went in there, the dentist told him he had a cavity and needed a filling. The last time that my friend went in there, it was no different. The dentist told my friend that he had two cavities that needed to be filled. My friend told him that he would come back another day to have it done. My friend never went back. That was 15 years ago and he has never had any problems. I guess those cavities (if they even exist) didn't need to be filled. I have a friend who is a dentist but he lives in another state so I can't go to him. He told me that in many cases, cavities do not need to be filled. If there is decay, you will probably need a filling. But if you have a small cavity with no decay, there is a good chance that you won't need anything done. This dentist told me that he has a couple of small cavities that he has had for 20 years and they are still fine. The dentist I go to now is very honest. He confirmed what the dentist who I am friends with told me. He will sometimes tell me that I have a small cavity that isn't bad and that he will just keep an eye on it. Anyway, you should definitely get a second opinion. I would probably get a couple of second opinions. I think there is a very good chance that you don't need any major work done. Most of these guys are such crooks it is unbelievable. Are you having any pain? If you aren't having any pain, that is a good sign. If you are having pain, you probably need some work done but it could just be minor work. |
