We are only using income taxes as the primary factor in the equation and that is a problem. If you make 200K a year, it is likely that the person making 10x that number is paying 10x the taxes (in $) when you factor in all tax paid vs. just income tax.

also likely that the tax code (which needs reforming) helps out those at the top as well. of course it does-everything in congress is lobbied for by the very rich, of course everything will be done for their favor.
