The insult was Schmidt, et. al., nixing Joe L. and picking Palin, thinking that the large number of women who had supported Clinton would naturally gravitate to Palin simply because she was a woman, too. That was an insult to thinking voters of both sexes everywhere. It helped cost them the election.
I would have been very happy with a McCain / Joe Liebermen ticket.
Palin was a drag on it.
