Default Mucho Macho Man set for '14 campaign

Mike Welsch ‏@DRFWelsch Trainer Kathy Ritvo confirms decision has been made to campaign Mucho Macho Man again in 2014 with defense of Breeders' Cup the obvious goal; Ritvo said MMM will likely open '14 season at Gulfstream but no race etched in stone, but indicated he would work on turf later this month..

Over/under on number of starts in 2014? I would set the line at 4.5.

You would they would point for races at Santa Anita since he loves the track and has a better chance of catching a fast track, since he hates off tracks.

He is a bit up against it because they wont run him on a track that is at all wet. With that said, I agree he does not run much. And does throw in some stinkers. Im also glad hes back though. The more good horses the better.

I may be in the minority on this- but send him to Dubai. Regardless of result out there, you can bring him back at 'Toga after that and get him properly prepared for SA. If he's gonna run, go for all the big cash spots

But yeah... awesome news that he's back (and already had his first workout this morning)

there's no way i'd take him to dubai, with no idea how he'd like the awt. that's a long ship there and back to experiment.
plenty to be done here, on tracks you know he'll do well on.

Since he'd have the months needed to rest back up and recoup and get in 2-3 preps before November, that's the reason why I don't think Dubai messes plans up... even if he doesn't do well there. If the ultimate goal is next November, a potential big pay day in March shouldn't sideline that. And as previous people tat have replied to this thread have also said-

He doesn't run much anyway lol.

Donn, Dubai... then if we don't see him again until the Whitney so be it. ****... if he does well on the all-weather in Dubai, maybe you think Pacific classic with him instead of Saratoga preps?

Main point though is if Dubai doesn't work there is plenty of time to get him right again

plenty of good racing here to be had, without all the issues.

f*** dubai. they had the nerve to strip brass hat of his win (his connections followed their withdrawal protocol-yeah, i believe dubais people...), and then all these stories about drugs and the sheiks stables emerge. to hell with that backwater country with a veneer of modernism, but pay no attention to the slavery. don't look behind the curtain.

The only differece between Dubai and South Africa pre-Mandella, is that Dubai has always had the oil and money to captivate the world. South Africa had neither.

Speaking only about your race placing reference, he never won in Dubai, he was a well beaten 2nd.
