Default Gantry

Gantry's win in race 8 at Belmont today is worth a look as he set a new track record.. I know he isn't the most sound animal out there and that he had the most perfect of trips today. But, 1:06.4 for six furlongs is unbelievable.

Since there was no other races ran on the inner turf today to compare this effort with, how do you get any sort of accuracy with speed figures in a race like this?

All you have to go on are what the horses have done in the past.

Winner was 1st time turf.

2nd place ran a 93 on synthetic last time

3rd place ran a 76 last time over the course while quitting going longer

4th place ran a 84 in a turf sprint over the course last out

Never been a fan of speed figures for turf racing.
