Looks like he's going to run on the turf next:
Quote:
Two prospects for the $150,000 La Jolla are scheduled to test the grass course Sunday morning in final tune-ups for Saturday's race. Heading for workouts on the Durante course, according to trainers John Sadler and Alexis Barba, are Sidney's Candy, winner of the Santa Anita Derby for Sadler, and Alphie's Bet, winner of the Sham Stakes and on the Triple Crown trail until finishing sixth behind Sidney's Candy in the Santa Anita Derby.
Sadler said that if Sidney's Candy didn't show a liking for the turf, he probably would start the undefeated Twirling Candy, an emphatic winner of the opening-day featured Oceanside Stakes in his place. If not, Twirling Candy, who turned in a bullet 59.60 for 5 furlongs this morning, would be pointed directly to the Del Mar Derby, the ultimate goal of the La Jolla runners.
