That's the worst beat I've ever seen, bar none. With the impossible photo and the conso being $676, it's unfathomably bad.

I know it's tough, but shouldn't your toughest beat be when you're best, and get into trouble? You had your shot. She's too good, and she wants it. That's a difficult combination to beat.

They're both bad, but being in trouble and still best is a judgment call. This dude (or chick) was literally an inch or two from $154,000, with a 13-1 single who appeared to get the bob on every replay and got $676 instead. Show me a worse beat than that.

Worse beat is knowing you had the best horse singled, and can't get up. People singling Jewel were looking for trouble happening to a better horse. Didn't happen (not enough.) They had every break (slow pace, lost ground for B.L. etc.) Singled an inferior animal. They think they had a tough break, but they had a lot of breaks. The other horse is too good. That's caused by Hollendorfer picking easy spots.

point taken joey... 154,000 is much worse.

Arletta, she was in there simply as a cover. I really thought the 11 would get a nice run and she did. I just don't see how she lost that photo....

Haven't seen the head-on, but it looked like Kent was coming out herding her. Wouldn't even been that close a photo if he doesn't come out bothering her.

No, it doesn't surprise me. That's the way Douglas got owned (Cajuns riding Cajun.) At 2:01, he sees her coming. Hits Jewel left-handed. Comes out (pretending he's gunna stay straight.) Then, he does it again at 2:04. He doesn't just start coming over in one big move. He uses two moves (with a hesitation moment in between.) If it was Gomez, then he'd of sold Blind Luck on a swerve (without actually making a full swerve.) If Gomez was on Jewel, you might of gotten paid, because he has a swerve fake that actually can stop a horse's momentum. |
