Excel 2000 ?

Anybody know what the max number of arguments is for the AVERAGE and MEDIAN functions in Excel 2000?

Or a readily available alternative that will calculate a large number of cells?

I can add a minor tidbit here that Excel 2007 has broader capabilities as far as number of cells. The other stuff I can't answer
