Default Discreet Treasure

Discreet Treasure runs on Friday in the 3rd in an allowance optional claimer. Thought Hough would have tried the Suburban. Will be a huge favorite against a much weaker group that includes Samhoon, Caves Valley, Tizbig, Fluke and Storm caller.

Hard to gauge after his last race which was scratched down to a field of 3, where the Cool Coal Man waltzed home looking very impressive winning by 7.
I thought his hard charging finish against Bribon the race before was a really nice race.

I think Hough has a realistic handle on Discreet Treasure's ability. . .

In related news, his 1/2 bro is entered on Thursday. He's working really quickly, but he's by Mineshaft so I wouldn't think a 5.5F debut would be up his alley. I'm guessing he's the half of the entry that goes, however, because Royal Stocks worked a 4F bullet today.

Given the way the dirt has been playing at Belmont, Discreet Treasure may be a good bet against in this spot. He is the best horse in the race, but will have to come from far out of it again. Maybe Tizbig will perk up?

What's Fluke doing running on the dirt? Samhoon looks like the speed but Fluke will probably harass him a little on the front end. The more I look at the race the more interesting it looks.

Ya, me too. I wish I had the PPs. Just going from what I know from memory, Fluke is nowhere near as quick as Samhoon. Fluke only made the lead in his last because it was a paceless affair. I remember that race well because I got buried on it. I bet Rahys Appeal and he ran like a drunken sailor. Balletti was the winner, making a powerful sweeping move past everybody at like 6/1 odds. There was a horrible favorite in this race, I think it was Dancing Forever and he never threatened. Samhoon will easily make the lead and if I remember right is riding a 3-4 race win streak? Tizbig was well thought of last summer by the Chief but man has he been a huge disappointment.

Good little race. Discreet Treasure will take some beating at what should be around 3/5 but hes no lock the way the track has been playing.

I see that Discreet Treasure is also nominated to Saturday's Salvator Mile at Monmouth (Grade 3, 250K) and you may see Hough opt for the more lucrative spot with his strapping gray colt. Smooth Air will go off the big favorite in this race and based on his last (2nd in Met Mile), he will take a world of beating.

Discreet Treasure did not enter the Salvator Mile and will go on Friday in the 4th at Belmont. With the likely scratch of Samhoon, you may see the odds on him being even lower than 3/5.
