Default Biggest single race/single bet payout ever???

the question came up here at work what is the biggest payout for one race/one bet of all time? I would assume its a superfecta from somewhere but oculd not find any information on the actual result. Any help from the board would be appreciated. thanks.

I can't imagine there are many bigger single race payouts than the $1.7 million superfecta payout in the Giacomo Derby.

That's what came to mind for me too, at least in American racing, I can't see another one having been higher.

Biggest I can remember is the 2005 Kentucky Derby- superfecta paid $1,728,506.40 for $2.

A couple years ago (can't remember the year) Sunshine Millions, Someone hit the pick 6 with an $8 ticket. I remember this because they singled 12-1 Sweet Lips, who I had a big win ticket on. I think there were only 2 tickets, but I'm not sure. Nice score anyway!

I don't believe this would qualify under the single race description.

You are right. I mistook that for bang for the buck. I had the worst super in Breeders Cup history if it makes you feel better. 2006 FillynMare Turf. I thought it would pay at least a few hundred!

I think it may qualify for the " /single bet " part of the question though.

Years ago, I remember reading that the largest win mutuel was at Old Latonia in the 1920's - something like $290 for a $2 bet.

That may have been eclipsed in the last ten years though.

Actually, a quick google says that Wishing Ring won a race at odds of 900-1 on June 17, 1912 at Latonia Race Course.

This payout was more than the connections of Giacomo took home for winning the race.
