![]() She rides 7 days a week with 2 in Philly when NY is dark.. She's been noted by observers so far as a girl who appears capable of finishing strong with a horse; usually a knock on female riders. She went to the jockey academy in P.R., started in Bensalem and had a pair of 4 win days there last year. She is clearly a tough nut as she has missed few mounts after spills. From accounts I've heard from Tony Black, she's attentive to instruction and eager to learn from veteran jocks.

![]() I think she rides OK. She's a lot better than most apprentices I have seen over the last few years though Aldo Arboleda is OK as well.
It's good to see a woman rider getting a chance. |

![]() Spent some time last night looking at replays of horses ridden by Channing Hill and Ariel Smith. She already finishes better than the former, and is a better judge of pace than the latter. So, YEAH, she's looking real good right about now.

![]() One thing is clear....she's ten thousand times better than Stewie Elliot. He just lost a race at Aqueduct, the seventh, that no other rider on earth could have lost.

Fortunately I went into CEW mode in the finale. Hatta Diamond, to me, was a standout in the race. Now Cedeno..she's ok I guess. I thought she was on the best horse in the 5th race but didn't have room in the backstretch on the rail and had to lightly tap on the brakes and go to the outside. Not worth a bet back, but the minor trouble possibly cost her the win. |

![]() Not sure what you saw that I didn't, but other than being 2w the whole way Elliott never really did anything wrong, he was just 2nd best. The 4 had problems changing leads, and when she finally did she went right by them (and held her lead easily despite switching back to her wrong lead nearing the wire.) He shouldn't have given up the rail out of the gate but it probably wouldn't have mattered.

Had she held her position, the pace could have been pretty much just as slow and she would have held the inside, and perhaps not allowed the winner up the rail. Could she still have lost? Of course, but this is not the way you ride to your strengths and the track's strengths. Elliot has no clue and only wins races because he rides miracle horses for Assmussen ( did you catch the one in Thursday's 3rd race by the way? ). |

![]() I don't know where her career will go but Carol Cedeno has done quite wel, often with big priced horses.
She certainly seems to have the heart to try. She's riding 7 days a week and from accounts I've seen is interested in learning. She's taken a couple of spills and yet has come right back. She is a pretty determined closing rider but she'll need to work on breaking and going. Maybe a stint in Cali or Arizona would sharpen her up. I like to see young riders who really want to learn the craft. Alan Garcia seems to "want it" and has done very well. Carol Cedeno is proving that she has the will to try. I agree with BTW, it is nice to see a young woman doing well and learning the game.

How do guys like this win Derby's? I realize the horse runs the race but this guy has screwed me out of more money at Delaware when he had much the best it is a performance crime of the worst kind..... and then when you bet against them with a marginal talent they pick that race to do something halfway savy.....I think it is more maddening when they win with a mediocre horse...... |
