Default C.C. beats out Beckett for Cy Young.

C.C. went 19-7 with a 3.21 ERA and 209 strikeouts. Beckett went 20-7 with a 3.27 ERA and completely shined in the World Series while C.C. went MIA. I know the performance in the World Series isn't suppose to come into play, but how on earth could someone vote for C.C. over Beckett

I think they voted before the WS or even the playoffs started

Because he was generally better. He had 5 or 6 more quality starts...granted he had 5 more starts. He had more complete games, more shutouts, beat Santana 3 times, beat Verlander twice, pitched over 40 more innings, had over a run less run support per game than Beckett. Had 8 games where he gave up 2 runs or fewer and got a no decision or loss.

The votes are cast BEFORE postseason play. There is no doubt in a big postseason game who you want pitching...but it's a regular season award...and they were identical pretty much and I think the durability of Sabathia who missed no time while Beckett missed 4 or 5 starts was the deciding factor.

I am a Cleveland homer...but just from afar, it was certainly legitimate for Sabathia to get the award. He was outstanding. If they took the vote November 1st instead of October 1st, of course the other guy gets it...but the vote was after the regular season.
